On 18 September 2025, the MAP Multimedia (MMM) team together with Shan Youth Power (SYP) conducted an outreach activity with a migrant community at the construction site in Sankampaeng, Chiang Mai. Around 50 people participated, with about 80% are women.
This construction site is a new outreach location, and most migrant workers are not yet familiar with MAP Radio. This outreach aimed to promote MAP Radio, learn about participants’ online media habits, and assess their knowledge and interests so we can better provide information and news that meet their needs.
Because the site is far from the city, our MAP Radio FM frequency does not reach the area. However, workers can still listen through our Facebook page, TikTok, and mobile application.
During survey activities, participants expressed strong interest in having access to trustworthy, reliable news, as well as information on child education and labor rights.
Many migrants expressed grateful about the outreach, noting that it had been a long time since an organization had visited to share useful knowledge. This is important for them to connect with MAP Radio programs and gain access to information on labor rights, education, and current news.
The outreach included an introduction to MAP Radio and MAP Media channels, showing participants how to follow and access information. Interactive activities such as games, Q&A sessions, and sticker-voting helped identify the topics and programs participants were most interested in.
Access to reliable radio programs and accurate information helps reduce the risk of exploitation, raises awareness about scams and misinformation, and keeps migrant workers up to date on important announcements, including documentation and legal processes.
