On September 17, 2015, 25 political science students from Chiang Mai University visited and learned at the Foundation for the Health and Learning of Ethnic Groups (MAP Foundation). The purpose of the visit was to gain a deeper understanding of migrant worker issues in Thailand.
The visit provided the students with an opportunity to attend a sharing session by the MAP Foundation team, who shared information about the foundation's mission and activities, including its work to protect the rights and promote the quality of life of migrant workers and their families. The visit also provided an explanation of migrant labor policies, labor laws in Thailand and challenges migrants face, providing insights for political science students.
Following the lecture, last session was Q&A to allow students to ask questions and exchange ideas with the team. This approach extended learning beyond the classroom, but also provided hands-on experience and fieldwork, broadening their perspectives and deepening their understanding of the migrant worker situation.
This visit served as a bridge between academic study and practical work in civil society, raising awareness and preparing the next generation of students to become part of the future social movement.
