1. Department: Rights for All – Migrant Youth Empowerment Project, MAP Foundation, with support from Plan International, Thailand.

The Migrant Youth empowerment project is one of many projects under MAP Foundations Right For All (RFA) program. RFA addresses rights which are essential to quality of life especially for women and girls, and children and youth, such as sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for all ages, women’s rights including freedom from violence, children’s rights including education, safety and protection. A key strategy MAP uses in promoting these rights is empowerment. 

The Migrant Youth Empowerment (MYE) project aims to promote SRHR among migrant adolescents and youth in Maesot and Mae Ramat areas, by informing them about family planning, HIV and AIDS, STIs, adolescent health, and reproductive health, and by developing their and civil society’s capacity to realize these rights.

2. Job Summary: The Team leader’s (TL) role is to lead the implementation of the MYE project. This includes the following activities: education of migrant youth on family planning, HIV and AIDS, STIs, adolescent health, and reproductive health through on-site trainings and workshops; development and support of peer leaders, including through Youth Camps; parents meetings; public awareness campaigns; capacity building workshops and activities for local civil society groups; and advocacy meetings with stakeholders.

The TL helps plan and lead activities, oversees the clearing of bills for activities, and prepares reports to funder. The TL participates as necessary in volunteer meetings, capacity building trainings, RFA Team meetings, monthly staff meetings, joins in other MAP activities and attends network meetings as a representative of MAP.

The TL works with the MYE Field Officer and MYE Peer educator, and reports to the RFA coordinator and the finance department. The TL is the main contact person with the funders (PLAN International).

3. Duties:

Project Management

Lead the MYE team to ensure the work of the project is completed on time and results in desired outcomes.

  • Develop and review work plans, delegate responsibilities among team members, manage finances of project
  • Review and evaluate activities with team
  • Follow-up monitoring of participants especially peer leaders, volunteers and partner CBO
  • Coordinate with RFA Coordinator and project donor to ensure timely completion of workplan implementation, reporting and financial obligations

Oversight and Guidance on Content

Support the team by ensuring information and messages provided to and by youth, peer leaders, CBO, and parents on family planning, HIV and AIDS, STIs, adolescent health, and reproductive health, is accurate and accessible.

  • Design curriculum content and organize activities with team
  • Provide capacity support, advise and lead team to design activity lesson plans, and coach  team to facilitate workshops
  • Facilitate workshops with team

Reporting

Financial report:

  • Send monthly report to coordinator with cleared expenses and bills
  • Plan the monthly budget

Quarterly Narrative report:

  • Check and finalise data collected with team
  • Collect all information in Burmese and have translated, and draft the report (in English / Thai)

Safeguarding Policy

  • Identify, analyse and manage with project team safeguarding-related risks for children and young people at all stages of the project.
  • Train project staff and volunteer about child safeguarding process
  • Ensure the team and volunteers Inform community members about MAP’s safeguarding policy and report mechanism.

Networking

  • Attend Partner meetings organised by PLAN with team members
  • Attend network meetings once a month (at least 2 of the following networks: Gender based violence, Reproductive Health, Child Protection Referral System) with team members
  • Participate in case management network concerning children’s cases

 

4. Skills and Competencies:

  • Motivation to contribute to migrant community well-being
  • Knowledge and understanding of the migrant community
  • Strong knowledge of SRHR, HIV and AIDS, and related topics
  • Experience in project implementation and in working with youth
  • Flexible working hours
  • Spoken and written languages Burmese and Thai
  • Computer skills (excel, word)
  • Reporting / writing skills
  • Driving license (car) preferred

Salary range 10,500-17,500 B (based on experience)
