The Legal Support Unit provides legal counselling and representation to migrants who seek to enforce their rights in a wide range of cases, focusing primarily on labour cases for unpaid wages, compensation for occupational accidents and deaths, assisting women who have been subject to sexual abuse and migrants injured in road accidents. The Legal Support Unit supports the activities of all other Programmes at MAP and provides capacity-building to MAP Staff on legal issues and skills.Additionally LSU performs advocacy for policy and legal reform to improve protection of the rights of migrants. In addition to working within the Thai legal system, the Legal Support Unit utilizes an international human rights legal framework to engage with regional and international efforts to guarantee the human rights and freedoms for migrants.
