One of MAP's focus is promoting physical, social and emotional well-being in migrant communities. Teams of outreach workers visit migrant workers at their work-places or at gathering areas to provide health education, distribute materials on health, life-skills and other issues in the languages of the migrants (Shan, Karen, Burmese, Lahu). MAP particularly focusses on HIV/AIDS, women's health, family planning, malaria and TB. In each area, MAP works with the local health services to facilitate interpretation services.
Migrant workers set up community resource centres according to their needs in each area. These resource centres include libraries, literacy classes, basic education for children of migrants, training rooms and special activities. They are spaces where migrant workers can relax, learn, share with their community and have fun.
During periods of registration for migrants, MAP runs a "Migrant-line" which migrants can call for information and clarification on the procedure to register.
The emphasis of Community Health and Education Project are as follows:
a) Prevention of HIV/AIDS Among Migrant Workers in Thailand (PHAMIT)
b) Promoting Occupational Safety and Health (POSH)
c) Emergency Care
