MAP supports migrant workers in addressing violations of their rights, whether it be exploitation at work or sexual violence. Migrant women come together as women, in monthly meetings called "Women exchange" and migrant men and women come together as workers in meetings called "Labour exchange" to share their experiences, skills and find ways to tackle the challenges they face.
Through the Women Exchange meetings women have devised a 10 step guideline for what to do in case of sexual or physical violence. The guideline is called ARM, Automatic Response Mechanism and provides suggestions of how to support women who have been abused and how to access health and legal services (ARM in 5 languages is available at "Our publications").
Migrant workers have tried to use collective bargaining and where that fails legal mechanisms to seek recourse in cases of labour exploitation. Workers have taken their cases to Labour Protection Offices and to the Labour Court. MAP informs migrants of the Thai legal system and mechanisms and coordinates with the Lawyer's Council of Thailand to provide legal representation.
Currently, MAP have five focuses under AAA Project:
